Kutchan is a town of nature in the vicinity of Mt. Yotei (known as Ezo Fuji- meaning of Hokkaido's Mt. Fuji- for its resemblance to Mt. Fuji) and the Niseko mountains, whose main peak is Niseko Annupuri. Farming of potatoes and other crops using Mt. Yotei's abundant subsoil water thrives in the town. Skiers and snowboarders both from Japan and overseas flock to the area in winter for its high-quality powder snow. Kutchan offers a variety of lively summer activities in a bracing climate.
